Condoms are only effective if you wear them every time and the whole time you have intercourse.

I've never had experience with ovulation bleeding, could be implantation bleeding, which is when a fertilized egg imbeds itself into your uterus, but I'm not sure this would happen around ovulation or slightly later. Noone will be able to tell you for sure, I'd try not to stress about it and take a pregnancy test in a couple of weeks if your period has not arrived on time.

It really depends on the length of your cycle. I have been pregnant before so I know what *usually* will happen because my trend occured with many women.

Watery and creamy mucus just sounds like ovulation mucus to me. It is probably like raw eggwhites as you've heard so many times. You can spot when ovulating, that's probably why you spotted on the 4th.

Use an ovulation/fertility calculator, it will really help you. http://www.webmd.com/baby/healthtool-ovulation-calculator

I had inplantation bleeding which I mistook for the beginning of my period. I've heard that it is not that common, but you may spot if a fertilized zygote implants. It happened for me a few days after i was expecting my period. I waited and waited. i just remember being nervous wondering where my period was, and i spotted so lightly when i wiped (only one tiny light pink streak) that I could have easily missed it.

Inplantation time varies from woman to woman…depending on how fast the fertilized egg can get to the uterine lining. It is estimated that on average it takes about 7-10 days from fertilization to implantation.

Therefore, this spotting 6 days after you were supposed to ovulate is very early for implantation, it is possible but not likely to be implantation. It seems to be some arbitrary spotting. You should probably just go ahead and see your gyno incase. Bleeding could mean an infection, so you really never know.

If you ovulated the 4th, then that means you probably should have had sex a few days before or within a day of the 4th, the latest the 5th, possibly the 6th but it is rare to get pregnant this late.

If you did have sex in this general time from, then this is your best chance of being pregant. You will not see inplantation bleeding till probably the 11th or later. 11th being the absolute earliest.

I knew that I was pregnant, but still waited for my period. You usually get very dry before your period, but I remember I had a huge increase in mucus (lotioy and it smelled sweet, and it was in abundance). I distinctly remember it being different than any mucus I'd ever had before, and from what I've read this is caused by the sudden increase in progesterone that is necessary to keep the embryo growing and the pregnancy continuing. About the time i expected my period, this mucus started, then about two days after my period was due, it was just slightly tinged with pink that one time.

This is my story, but all women are different, however my experience was very similar to others I've read about.

This is just a rough guide. I would really start looking into an ovulation calendar, and start tracking your cycle lengths each month. I keep mine on the calendar on my phone.. it's really handy. :) this way you can more accurately determine where you are in this whole cycle of ovulation and pregnancy. My cycle suddenly got consistantly 4 days shorter which worries me, and i'm gonna go get it checked out. I'm just happy that I had been tracking it.

Hope that helps.. hollar if you need anything else :)

"So, is it true that, in some point in the menstrual cycle, unprotected sex is possible without pregnancy?"

Yes, but you don’t know when. If no ovulation has occurred, then pregnancy is impossible because fertilization is impossible. That's the evidence, although it is more logical than biological. No egg, no zygote. That's how oral contraceptives work: no egg is released.

It is a bad idea to try to guess when ovulation has occurred to avoid pregnancy. This is called the rhythm method and it is notoriously unreliable.

Incidentally, it sounds from your description that you are thinking that the last egg is still around when the next one is expected. That is not the case. The window for fertilization is a few days after ovulation, while the egg is coming down the Fallopian tube. If fertilization doesn't occur then, and the egg is shed, then pregnancy is not possible for nearly a month. Most of the month there is no egg there to be fertilized.

The typical female can only conceive at most five days out of her cycle, beginning immediately following ovulation, which is usually about two weeks after the last menses. But don't bet on it unless you want to be called mama. She is infertile for the rest of the cycle.

It is wisest to consider yourself liable to get pregnant most of the cycle, although during and immediately following menses is the safest time.

umm not sure where you live but i have never had to pay for a blood test that a dr sent me to including a pregnancy one so im not sure yes the home test may not be picking it up with my first it didnt pick it up thru the whole pregnancy so maybe go to a drs and see what they say as its been known for hpt to be neg yet you still are good luck

that was actually pretty informative. I came inside my girl a couple weeks after she stopped taking her birth control thinking its too early to get pregnant. Now hearing that this seminal pool could sit for a couple days might explain why she has missed her period for a month and a half. hope she aint pregnant

As for the EWCM, I really don't know. But the very light bleeding sounds very possibly like implantation bleeding. I am now 15 weeks pregnant myself, and when I first tested the test was negative, but I was pregnant at the time. I started bleeding that day, but very lightly. I assumed it was my period, but it stopped the next day. I tested the next week and it was positive immediately. Your body begins to produce HCG at implantation. It takes a couple days for the levels to be high enough to show on a hpt. When was the last time you tested? I'd say your levels should be high enough in the next couple days to trigger a positive hpt.

Well, it really just depends when you ovulate, as different women ovulate at different times ( but usually around day 14–counting the 1st day of your last period as day 1–. But also, a sperm can live for up to like 5 days, so I would just be on the safe side and use a condom.
