The "A" measurement should by under your arm, just above the bust, not below. It is a common misconception about measuring for any bra to measure under the bust. I hope this helps, good luck! =)

Hi there,
So I deal with this question all the time. You do not need a maternity bra you need a nursing bra and a nursing tank. Two weeks prior to your due date buy a cheap nursing bra at target, not motherhood they are itchy. If you can afford it buy a glamourmom tank (http://www.bumpfashion.com) the tanks are comfy and great and not 100% sized like a bra (don't buy the tank at target they stretch out way to much and look bad after a few hours). Anyhow two weeks after the baby is born your milk will calm down and yes you will have lost some pregnancy weight that is when you can buy a nice nursing bra.

Good luck!

Go to motherhood.com they have instructions to measure for a bra then you enter your measurement and they give you your size.

I have always struggled with bra sizes b/c most of the sizing info is wrong. The add 5 inches to your under bust measurement to get band size does not work.

The most accurate way I have found is to measure above your breast this will give you a correct band size. From your description it sounds like you are either a 38/40 A.

The lady in the lingerie department told me to come back when I was in my 8th month, which I did, and my bras fit great. Still breastfeeding my 8 mo. old with the same bras. Make sure you don't get one with underwire because the pressure can cause some discomfort and even mastitis.

I know how you feel I was unsure what size to get. I'm normally a 10B and bought 12C bra's which were still too small at some stages. I personally went from a B to probably a D or DD cup in the first few weeks after birth. But soon after it normalised out and I was probably a C cup mostly. I'm now back to B even though I'm still breast feeding and the bra's I got are now too big and all stretched!! I found that maternity singlet shirts with the built in bra were really comfortable and seemed to wear better. I also found that wireless was a lot more comfortable….
I would wait until fairly close to the birth day to get bras as I seemed to put on weight in the last few months to ensure that the bra's will fit best. Congratulations and Good luck!!

That doesn't sound too unreasonable. I got lucky — I had several friends that had just had babies right before me, so most of my wardrobe was borrowed. I would say I only spent around $100 on a few items, including bras. Congrats on the baby!!

I suggest buying a few regular bras but in bigger sizes to hold you over. I read somewhere you shouldn't get nursing bras until you're in your last month or so because your chest will grow. But I found some awesome nursing tanktops at Target that you could get now because they're not a specific size and would still fit if your chest got bigger.

I got fitted at JC Penny's. I was normally a 36D BEFORE pregnancy….when I went in at 5 months pregnant because my bra was so tight it was leaving purple indents in my boobs, I knew I was definitely gonna be bigger. BUT, to my hated surprise I went up from a 36D to a 40DD!!! I had only gained 5 pounds at that point too so I didn't understand how in the hell they got so big with barely any weight gain. The 5 pounds MUST have been the breasts only, ha ha! But, any good department store will fit you and find you the exact bra you are looking for. Me personally, once I found out what size I was, (JC Penny's picked out 2 non-underwire bras for me and I used them for awhile-but they looked so granny-ish) but ended up at Wal-Mart getting this REALLY nice bra that was in a size 40DD and it fits me better then the JC Penny bras! And it's really sexy-ish, ha ha…..boyfriend likes it, even though it's big! It's a silkier material that's a little see-through and pink.
