surgery is what you are missing.

But they would probably still want to do some type of radiation treatments too, even if it is removing only part of the breast.

During radiation treatments we met two women with stage 0 breast cancer, they had a lumpectomy and still did radiation.

Circumstances that would require a full bi-lateral mastectomy is if there were no clear margins. The mastectomy itself is an overnight procedure.

So if any surgery is done on the breast it is likely to be followed by radiation treatments.

So probably the best case scenario would be the tumor going into a remission and only doing chemotherapy.

A co-worker's wife sister had died of breast cancer, and so she decided to have her breasts removed. She did not need to go through chemotherapy or radiation. That is a pretty drastic measure, but the sister saw her sister die of it and did not want to herself.

Your oncologist would know what is best for your situation, all breast cancer's are different.

I know you're being serious about this, because if not, you are a total ass. But everything depends. Mainly on how quickly they find it. You aren't totally sure yet if she does have breast cancer, so try not to stress out so much. Breast cancer has the highest survival rate, if that helps put your mind at ease. I know these things because breast cancer runs in my family. If it is bad enough, she may need to have surgery to remove her breast. If it doesn't get to that point, she will have chemotherapy. I'm sure that everybody knows what that is. She will have various symptoms which include hair loss, nausea, and fatigue. Treatment can very very effective depending on when they catch it, and it also depends greatly on her body itself, and her reaction to the chemo. Chemo and surgery are the two main treatments out there.

About your parents. Do they know you have a girlfriend? If so, under the circumstances, i'm sure they wouldn't be too upset with you if you wanted to go and be with her. If they don't know about her, i'm sorry, but i don't think that they would let you go. Talk to them about everything and let them know how you feel. Make sure to keep in contact with your girlfriend especially and give her all the support you can. I hope everything turns out for the best.
